Bladder cancer

Fortunately, bladder cancer is not the most common types of cancer. Unfortunately it can be as deadly as other forms of cancer. Bladder cancer is not caused by a hormone issue like in case of breast, prostate, colon or ovarian cancer. Moreover, studies have shown that bladder cancer cannot be inherited. What causes this form of cancer? What and where is the root? Available evidences prove that this is a cancer caused by carcinogenic compounds absorbed from outside the body. This means that bladder cancer is often caused by environmental pollutants. It doesn’t matter if these pollutants are related to your lifestyle (smoking) or to your workplace (benzidine).

Smoking is one of the risk factors that are very dangerous for our body because they can cause bladder cancer. The bad thing is that by the time this form of cancer start to develop inside the body, the patient has been smoking for a long period of time. This actually means that the patient already has in his blood deposits of carcinogens. Studies have shown that bladder cancer rates are higher among men than women. Moreover, these rates are higher in case of the men that are over 50 years old. Smoking men that are over 50 years old are predisposed to bladder cancer. But working in an environment that involves different types of carcinogenic chemic is also a risk factor. But what about its symptoms? Well, one of the most common symptoms of this fatal disease is represented by blood in the urine. A frequent urination, pressure to urinate are also two other important symptoms of this type of cancer. Of course, these symptoms can also be related to other causes, but it’s still very important to make a visit to your doctor. The good thing is that an early detection of the bladder cancer can result in easy and convenient treatments. There are two important types of bladder cancer. The first one is represented by a superficial cancer that develops on the lining of the bladder and the latter is a deeper cancer that while developing it penetrates the tissue of the bladder. If it’s left untreated, the first type of bladder cancer can turn into deeper cancer. That’s the reason why is so important to detect symptoms on time and go immediately to a doctor.

How can you treat bladder cancer? Well, healing these two forms of cancer can vary from cauterizing the superficial cancer to removing the entire bladder in the case of a deeper cancer. Chemotherapy and also radiation therapy are very useful as treatments for this type of cancer. Chemotherapy includes a number of drugs while radiation therapy includes a radioactive dispenser installed in the bladder that destroys the cancer cells. In many cases, people who win the fight against this disease have to change their lifestyle. They have to do that in order to avoid the re-occurrence of the cancer in another part of their body. If the patient is a smoker, it’s very important for him to stop smoking. If the cancer was caused by different chemicals, then the patients should avoid getting in contact with them. The bad news is that over 30% of cases that involve bladder cancer occur without environmental causes.
